From 16 January to 22 March 2026, the temporary exhibition Soft! was on view at Muiderslot Castle. With Soft!, Muiderslot revived a vibrant art form within its centuries-old walls. Where once rich tapestries conveyed warmth, status, and craftsmanship, contemporary textile artists now demonstrate how powerful, innovative, and surprising textile art can be today. In collaboration with Rademakers Gallery, this special exhibition invited visitors to experience textiles with fresh eyes.

Leading Artists
For Soft!, a group of leading female artists filled the castle with works that challenge, delight, and captivate. The exhibition featured Sofie Aaldering, Sina Dyks, Kiki van Eijk, Kelly Konings, Alfhild Sarah Külper, and Simone Post. Together, these artists showcased the essence of contemporary textile art: vibrant, expressive, investigative, and constantly evolving.

Sina Dyks presented immersive textile works, including wall hangings and sculptural pieces, highlighting her signature use of recycled and hand-spun fibers. Her installations created tactile, color-rich environments that engaged viewers in a dialogue between material, texture, and memory.

Why Muiderslot?
For centuries, tapestries and textiles formed the soul of the castle interior. Luxurious woven tapestries, curtains, and textile coverings brought warmth, color, and status to the space. They insulated against the cold, softened sound, and conveyed the power and prestige of the residents. Soft! returned this heritage in a modern form, creating a colorful dialogue where old and new meet throughout the castle.
